Christian Lönnholm, CEO of MuchDifferent, a Swedish non-profit organisation devoted to the development of state-of-the-art technology, will present the “1000 Player FPS” project, which has been officially recognised as a Guinness Record, at Nonick.
MuchDifferent set out to beat all simultaneous participation records in FPS games (First Person Shooter) and developed the Man vs Machine game especially for the occasion. The record was set on 29 January, when MuchDifferent ran a total of 8 interconnected servers to enable one thousand players, divided into the human band and the machine band, to confront each other in a simple scenario: kill or die. The servers opened at 4pm and the game began as soon as a total of 1000 players was reached. The takings from a small entry fee, were donated to the NGO, Engineers Without Borders.

During his 45-minute keynote, Christian Lonnholm will explain the development of “1000 Player FPS” and how this game opens up major opportunities for a new kind of technology for the creation of massive on-line games.
