May 8, 2012 in blog
Joshua Williams, from Microsoft USA, will give the opening keynote at nonick 2012. He will explain how the history of work throughout the ages demonstrates that play and work have nearly always been closely related. Today, post industrialization, we are experiencing cultural, generational and workplace shifts which are creating new opportunities to bring work and play back together. Through a variety of experimental projects, Microsoft has created productive work through the play of employees. From the “Language Quality Game” to “Communicate Hope”, these games have allowed employees to help improve the quality of products that many of you use today. This talk will discuss the motivations, success and failures the team has had trying to create these kinds of games as well as tips and tricks for establishing your own games.
