Start Up 2.0 Competition: submissions and voting period closed!
June 1, 2012 in blog
On May 30th was the deadline for startups to propose their gaming and gamification projects to Startup 2.0, the European non-profit Startup Competition since 2007. Facebook users vote for the 20 best on the facebook application. Among them, the Jury will select the 5 winners coming to Nonick, the International Conference to be held in Bilbao in June 15th-16th.
The thoroughly selected Jury is set up by 10 gaming and gamification specialised founders, investors, VCs, angel investors and tech media editors and bloggers from all over Europe. Their decisions are taken by majority of votes and based on business sense and growth expectations, innovation, degree of competition in their market, quality of the presentation and, in its case, the video sent to the contest and the team.
From now, it will be turn for Alexis Bonte (Co-founder & CEO at eRepublik Labs), Gianluca Dettori (Founder and CEO of Dpixel), Nicolas Gaume (Co-Founder & CEO at Mimesis Republic), Mo Jen (Audio Director for Playfish). Stephanie Kaiser (Product Lead at Wooga), Arda Kutsal (Founder and editor of Webrazzi), Matt Martin (Editor of GamesIndustry), Mircea Pasori (Technical Lead at Twitter), Kevin Slavin (Co-founder of Area/Code) and Gonzo Suárez (Vicepresidente of Spanish Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences) to make up their mind.
These 5 winners will then present their projects on stage in Startup 2.0 final round during Nonick, where different investors, specialists and developers will select the Best European Gaming Startup 2012.
Last year, more than 2,000 investors and specialists followed the online streaming and 250 took part in Nonick while the projects were being showed. Since the first edition in 2007, different startups have been financed or acquired as a result of Startup 2.0: Sclipo, 5min, Nvivo, 11870 , Panoramio or Bubok are some of the successful cases.
