Submate, a Paris-based social network for people who want to meet other users of the subway, won this year’s Startup 2.0 competition. Second place was for Minube, a social network for travelers, and third went to Askaro, a project founded by Ubaldo Huerta, who sold his first startup to eBay 6 years ago.

Submate is a solution to meet new interesting people and discover things to do in the areas around a subway. The project was started up in Paris four months ago and has already deployed in London, New York, Hong Kong, and, since last weekend, in Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia and Bilbao.
